Supper club questions: how Suppa Club works
What is a supper club?
A supper club is a dinner hosted in someone’s home or private space, for a small group of paying guests, usually around one table and one set menu. It is closer to a ticketed evening than a restaurant reservation.
How does booking on Suppa Club work?
Choose a dinner, pick the number of seats and pay securely through Stripe. Your booking is confirmed once payment succeeds. The host’s exact address and arrival instructions are shared with you after payment, never on the public listing.
Can I cancel a booking?
Each dinner shows its cancellation terms before you book, including the deadline for a full refund. If the host cancels, you receive a full refund.
What about allergies and dietary needs?
Hosts declare the allergens used as ingredients and any cross-contact risk on every listing. Menus are usually fixed, so check the allergen information and message the host before booking if you have any doubt.
Are home supper clubs legal in France?
Yes, hosting paying guests for dinner at home can be done legally in France, but the rules depend on how often you host, at what scale and how the activity is organised. Occasional, small-scale hosting is treated differently from a regular food business, which may need business registration and a food-handling declaration. Hygiene and allergen rules apply either way. Suppa Club’s hosting guide explains what to check; it is guidance, not legal advice.
Who can host a supper club?
Anyone who loves cooking for people and can meet the rules that apply where they live: home cooks, professional chefs testing a restaurant idea, food and wine lovers. Hosts create a profile, set up payouts with Stripe and publish their dinners on Suppa Club.
How do hosts get paid?
Guests pay through Stripe when they book. The host receives 85% of each booking, transferred to their Stripe account 24 hours after the dinner ends; Suppa Club keeps 15% and covers Stripe’s processing fees from its share.
Where is Suppa Club available?
Suppa Club is available in France (including Paris), Ireland, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
